Warehouse Security Cameras for High Bays, Docks, and Yards

Coverage for racking aisles, dock doors, and the trailer yard — multisensors at the corners, PTZs over the yard, and a worked 34-position budget at US list. Installed across PA, NJ, and DE by a Verkada Diamond Plus partner.

The short answer

Warehouses punish the wrong camera choices: 30–40 ft mounting heights, racking that throws shadows, dock doors that open all day, and a trailer yard nobody wants to walk in January. The fix is fewer devices placed right. Four-sensor multisensors at the corners cover four aisle-ends at once; PTZs patrol the yard from the building line. The worked example below covers roughly 40,000 sq ft with 22 devices and 34 camera positions for $66,036 at US list, 3-year licenses included. Request a quote for your building.

Where cameras go in a warehouse

  • Building corners and aisle ends. A multisensor (CH52-1TBE, $4,099 at list) covers four directions from one housing and one cable pull — four aisle-ends per device.
  • Dock doors, interior. Domes (CD42-256, $999) over each bank of doors — trailer positions, seal gaps, and load evidence when a dispute lands.
  • Drive aisles and staging. Bullets (CB52-256E, $1,899) along main runs where forklifts and staging cages move all shift.
  • Trailer yard and perimeter. PTZs (CP52-512E, $4,299) on the building corners run preset patrols along fence lines and gates; bullets cover the gate itself.
  • Offices and cage storage. Domes at entries and over high-value racks and tool cribs.

What a 34-position warehouse costs

A worked example at list, for a roughly 40,000 sq ft building: four multisensors at the corners, six bullets on docks and drive aisles, ten domes at entries, offices, and staging, two PTZs over the yard.

34 camera positions from 22 physical devices — about $1,942 per position over three years, at list, before tax and shipping. Racking layout changes the count more than square footage does.

What installation depends on

Install cost in a warehouse turns on mounting height and steel (a 40-ft bar-joist ceiling is a different job from open plenum), lift access and fall protection, cable-run length across the span, and whether the switches at each end of the building have spare PoE budget. Send a floor plan and a dock count, and the quote includes the install line with the schedule worked around picking and receiving windows.

What you’re not buying

The traditional stack behind an NVR build: recorders at $517–$2,947.50 at US list across the lines we carry (enterprise storage servers run far higher), VMS licensing at about $40 per channel, surveillance drives and their 3–5-year replacement labor, and a server closet with UPS power and cooling. Here the license covers the platform and updates, and every camera stores its own footage — there is no recorder closet to babysit.

One platform across office and warehouse

If the office already has working cameras, they stay. Warehouse cameras join the same dashboard, and one quote covers both — hybrid systems are normal, not an exception.
