Verkada Pricing: Hardware, Licenses, and a Worked Site Budget

The short answer
Every Verkada device has two costs: the hardware, paid once, and a license, paid per device for a 1-, 3-, 5-, or 10-year term. Cameras run $999 to $4,299 at US list for the models most commercial sites use, and the camera license is $249 per camera per year on a 1-year term, or $659 for three years (about $220 a year). Door controllers run $899 to $5,999 at list depending on door count, plus $249 per door per year. The Command cloud platform, software updates, mobile apps, and the storage on the camera itself are included in the license — there is no NVR server to buy, power, or replace.

Camera hardware at list price
Most commercial deployments land between the $999 indoor dome and the $1,899 outdoor bullet. Larger onboard storage raises the price and extends the footage the camera holds locally — a 512GB or 1TB model keeps more days of retention on the device without a cloud-storage add-on.

Licenses: what you pay per year
A Verkada device does not function without an active license, so the license is the real recurring cost of the system. Longer terms cost less per year — the 3-year camera license works out to about $220 per camera per year, against $249 on a 1-year term.

What an 8-camera site costs
Here is a worked example using the list prices above, for a small commercial site: six indoor domes covering entries and work areas, two outdoor bullets on the parking side, all on 3-year licenses.

About $2,033 per camera position over three years, at list, before tax and shipping.
Not in that number: installation. Install cost depends on cable-run length and ceiling types, whether your existing switches have spare PoE ports and budget, mounting surfaces, and how many floors the cameras span. A single-story office with an open plenum ceiling is a different job from a warehouse with 40-foot steel. Send us a camera count and a floor plan and the quote includes the install line, not just the gear.
What moves the price up or down
- Retention. Footage is stored on the camera. Bigger onboard storage or the 30-day cloud-storage add-on ($149 per camera per year at list) raises cost; the default 256GB models suit most 30-day needs.
- Term length. A 10-year license is $2,199 — about $220 a year — versus $249 on the 1-year term.
- Multisensors. One CH52 housing covers four positions and takes one four-sensor license instead of four.
- Government SKUs. FIPS/TAA variants for federal work carry higher list prices.
- Partner pricing. Quotes through a Diamond Plus partner reflect partner terms.
