Nominative fair use
Vendor and product names are used solely to identify the products compared, under the nominative fair use doctrine of New Kids on the Block v. News America Publishing, 971 F.2d 302 (9th Cir. 1992), and 15 U.S.C. § 1115(b). The doctrine permits another's mark when (1) the product is not readily identifiable without it, (2) only so much is used as reasonably necessary, and (3) the user does nothing to suggest sponsorship or endorsement. This calculator meets all three prongs: the vendors cannot be identified without their names; only each name and SKU are used; and the calculator disclaims affiliation in this notice and on every comparison screen.

Pricing, license, and warranty data is sourced from each vendor's publicly published list, datasheet, or warranty page. Actual prices and terms may vary by region, reseller, contract, and quote date.

About the calculator
The HTS Video Surveillance TCO Calculator is a free, public tool. It compares manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRPs), license terms, warranty terms, storage costs, install labor, IT labor, and hardware refresh cycles for cameras and NVRs from 15 vendors, side by side, so that a CFO, an IT director, or a facilities director can see the real 10-year cost of a security camera system before signing a quote.
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs are not sent to HTS's servers unless you choose to download the PDF (which posts to the lead-capture endpoint at /api/quote-intake). The share link encodes your inputs in the URL using base64; no PII is included in the share link.
